Your shrimp should be able to find some form of biofilm in the tank to keep them from starving.
But, as somewhatshocked said, leaf litter or indian almond leaves...

One word of advice on the Spirulina 20 is that it falls apart very fast and can lead to an algae bloom. Just be sure to feed small portions, unless you have bottom feeders that will eat it up fast.

I personally wouldn't do so. Aquasoil is basically the same thing as dirt, just rolled up into little balls. I would go all Aquasoil, or MGOCPM with a sand or gravel cap. I don't even want to imagine...

The only plants that i have had die on me were ones that were sick or never did well in my tank. The oldest plant i own is a 5-6 year old Crypt and it shows no signs of slowing down!

Flora-Max can be used on the bottom layer as a form of laterite. This should provide your plants with a good amount of iron, but i would still advise you to add red clay to the soil.

I have no problems with it in my 10 gallon betta / shrimp tank. I do make sure to use a thick layer of sand to keep any nutrients from leaching into my water.
