I was minding my own business when my POS Coralife fixture made a sound like a dying goose swallowing a firecracker. (Yeah, yeah, it came with the used tank.) Once it's apart, I find the 6700k tube...

I have sections of dwarf hairgrass, trimmed pretty short, and my cories spend a lot of time in it. They seem to like rubbing their bellies on it. I do low tech, so I've never tried HC.

As far as...

Tips for scaping near the filter pipe

Does anybody have tips on planting around/near the filter pipe? I'm not trying to hide the pipe; I just want a consistent, attractive design. Having no plants near it at all leaves an ugly bare spot...

I also use large buckets, and I move them into a room I can close off to keep the cats out of them. Usually I stick them in the basement since it has the most consistent temperature.

I also do...

My tank consists of ~40 endlers from fry to adults, 10 albino cories, 4 panda cories, and four billion trumpet snails. There were originally 10 pandas, but one by one their tails became chewed up and...
