As long as the spraybar inside diameter is at least equal to the inside diameter of the return side, it is fine. Using 1/2" PVC, schedule 40 CPVC works nice, it would be close to the same inside...

I'd say it would be a good idea to take it out, but that is just my opinion. Otherwise it will get caught up in other places. It is nice to grow in some setups though.
