This! I had a pair of convicts and a large Jack Dempsey. They were digging up my gravel and decor. Added rock caves and a small clay pot and all were happy, digging was limited.

Why not go with a Canister Filter? You'll get the most "overfiltering" with it and pretty quiet too. It's not bulky, the canister is placed below your tank and you'll only have the tubes hanging off...
