Blue pearls are a neocaridina species, so any non-neo shrimp won't cross with them. Caridina shrimp like CRS or tigers would be fine, though CRS tend to like their water a little more acidic.

Shouldn't be a problem if the filter bacteria process the ammonia into nitrites or nitrates. Most plants use nitrates as a nitrogen source preferably over ammonia anyway.
