I'm not trying to kill the snails but rather keep them alive. They get stuck in the filter socks in my sump and don't help clean my tank. My tank has a typical megaflow overflow.

Bass are gone. Snails are recovering. Put in an apple snail, what a cool snail. Ramshorns are recovering and soon hopefully I'll have a real population of malaysian trumpet snails going in my tank.

Quite an inspiration. I'm surprised you don't have issues with them in a 40. Dwarf Neon rainbows seemed cramped in my 40b. At any rate your aquascaping is impeccable.
