I think these solutions are pretty common. As long as you have built in enough fail-safe there are no catches.

I used to have a similar system like that, sans R/O, where I would just vacuum the...

Just split the concentrations in half (or double up the water volume to 1l) and then dose twice as much each time. K2SO4 isn't all that soluble.

Welcome to the Planted Tank! Sounds like way too much fish for too little space. Especially Clown loaches deserve large tanks.

I believe everyone can and should pack as much fish into their tanks...

That's exactly how I do it. My CO2 is on a solenoid, so in case of power outages, the canister tubing doesn't fill up with CO2 (that would take quite a while anyway). For DIY CO2, you should attach...

Remember the balance... increased light levels jump start the plant growth, which in turn requires nutrients to be available in sufficient quantities. What may have worked for a low light environment...

Why? 7.2 to 7.6 is perfectly fine for most fish and plants. Nitrites should read zero after the cycling is done.

Green water happens frequently with new tanks. Best IMO is to wait it out, you can't dilute it via water changes. Let it grow really thick, and then, a few days later, it will clear up and be gone...

For how long have you had the tank set up?

My guess would be lack of mainly nitrates/phosphates, plants therefore struggling, algae taking over. Pool sand is...
