The Home Depot diamond plate fixture will grow plants in a 55. If you decide to buy a new fixture it would be worth looking at. I've had to cut back to one bulb to get some algae under control.

After treating my 55 gallon with triple sulfa my ammonia has moved from 0 ppm to 0.25 ppm. I'm thinking I killed the beneficial bacteria...
