I may try the pellets the next time I am at the store. My laziness slightly outweighs my cheapness, so pellets would probably work the best in the long run.

I'd suggest going with a orange mollie instead. They will fullfill the causual observers needs when a goldfish is requested, and are much nicer in a planted tank. I like the sailfin ones.
