I would use a saw or a thin wood bit with a higher powered rotary tool like a Dewalt die grinder, there are other brands but this comes to mind first. The Dremel worked well enough for me with 1/4"...

Use locktite on the cga nipple, and don't use too much just a line 3 threads from the end of the nipple. Even dope can cause issues and some people use way too much
