I like bare bottoms myself and yes, their colors would be darker if I use darker substrates. The shrimps poop so much that it's much easier to clean without the substrates:)

I have all of them. Just recently got pumpkins, so not much to say about it yet. But between PFR and yellow, yellow are not as productive as the PFR, at least this is my experience.
