I had RCS breeding in pH 5.6. The pH on that tank was a bit misleading(?) though, as it was very low due to very high CO2. If I stop injecting CO2, the pH would go up to around 7.0-7.2 in 48 hours.

Just keep taking them out and feed very little in the tank. The more you overfeed your tanks, the faster these critters will multiply.
