Many people use the python to fill directly into the tank including myself for years now, just add the appropriate amount of prime before filling, never ever had a problem this way.

It might be sucking in air, I changed my tubing to some black hd tube, had to put a few zip ties on the input sections as the tubing is a slightly larger. I had half the flow before the zip ties....
