For what it`s worth, upgrade the entire regulator to a 2 stage unit, or get a PH controller.
I`m sure that experience is not one any of us want to have again, sorry for your losses.

I always had a suspension tat Gieseman & zoo Med T5 HO were made at he same manufacturer...
