Im running 2 fluval 405 on mine. As for a secondary canister, I personally wouldn't go to high flow being youll have the Fx5 running unobstructed. Maybe something rated for a 90g would do.

I think youll be fine, but I would leave your filter running just to be safe. From experience I dont think the uv removes nutrients, and I had one running well over a year on my old 180g planted.
