That looks like teflon or thread putty, shouldn't be permanent. I would remove that piece and put a nipple there connected to this , then the adapter listed below to the solenoid, then your needle...

I don't think the aluminum bars are going to provide near enough cooling capacity for the Vero 18s. I think you will need a decent heatsink(s) along with a fan cooling them

Got any pics of your setup? The heatsinks are very heavy duty so I shouldn't have any problems with heat. If they get warm I thought about adding fans to one end of them blowing across
