Could be. I think I need to see them again to try to determine the species. So it seems like 'firecracker shrimp' isn't a very common 'common name'.

You could use Cryptocoryne Parva and/or Marsilea spp. (Minutia, Quadrifolia, etc.). Both easier plants that don't need a lot of light.
