I have done the math and it's actually cheaper for me to just run the AC. Even with a fairly inefficient house, in the very high 90's, low 100's, it's about $10/day to run the AC when I am out of...

I like Flourite Black Sand, I have used it for many years. Actually, it's a combo of Flourite Black, Black Sand, and some Petco sand at this point. I am not a big fan of mixing substrates but if...

I had a AC 20 and AC 50 on one of mine. It seemed to work better when I had both on the sides. However, I didn't like the look so I put them in the back. The sides will offer you more flow but if...

It depends. I have never had vertical CFL's but supposedly they are more effective that way. I had two over a 6 gallon but had no reflectors, just a plastic fixture painted white inside. I then...

I agree with the above poster. I don't think the RGB LED's are really strong enough to make a huge difference with the light at full power but it does give a nice effect. On my two tanks with RGB...

I am actually a fan of running two fixtures over one more powerful one unless the more powerful one gives you the same or more control. I would be inclined to go two Sat +'s, however even though...

I would agree if it was Iwagumi. For this style, I think the rocks bring out some character and detail while still keeping a tranquil feel. I am into natural tanks but I have had similar tanks,...

Your plants looks very nice and lush. I would change a few things. First, many of your plants have big leaves which make the tank look small. I would try some smaller leaved plants, various Rotola...

I really like it. I think a low growing foreground will complement it. I see you have what looks to be Glosso so that will likely work great, I would choose HC. Then let the back grow out. My...

I would recommend this route. A HOB filter may work but even if you had a AC 70 and put an AC 20 impeller, that's still more flow than you likely would want. If you already have a HOB, you could...

I have used BBQ skewers. I find that they work best if you cut them right at the base of the tubing, maybe pushed in 1/2-3/4 of an inch. I broke a glass diffuser recently and tried a cigarette...

I would suggest something with RGB led's at the minimum. It may seem unimportant at first, especially if most your plants are green but that flexibility is very important IMO. Dimmable is nice as...

I was hesitant to go LED due to the upfront costs but I must say, I have been extremely happy with my 2 led fixtures, one being a Current Sat +. Even my cheap, no frills Beamswork has been nice, I...

You will find mixed reviews, probably fairly similar to an Aquatek. Some will say it's amazing, some will say it is hard to adjust, some will say it doesn't keep a stead CO2 rate over time. Will it...

The only thing I have seen it used for that I thought would be worthwhile is Excel. Even if you are injecting CO2, I still think it would be worthwhile as it seems to still improve plant growth and...
