Lobelia cardinalis not happy. Convert to terrestrial?

I picked up a pot of L. cardinalis from the LFS, and it isn't doing well. It's in a little, unfiltered 2.5g desktop work tank stocked only with assorted small snails; it proved to have four separate...

Water changes should happen like just about any other tank - 10 to 20% once a week. With a little tank, it's really easy - and houseplants love fish water =)

Happy fishkeeping!

Cute little tank, that. :3

I'd rather not do a betta since there's no heater, and this office is consistently cold. I tried keeping one unheated in here for a while, and it didn't work out. He...

Hmm. How would one go about a non-powered biofilter? I thought you had to have water movement for that to work?
Thanks,

I recently purchased a 2.5 gallon tank (my second for work - the other one's in reception, not at my desk), put in some substrate...

My dojo loaches "nap" on the filter intake this same way, and they're quite healthy (not puffers, but do have some truly strange behaviors). I just put prefilter sponges on my intakes, and now they...

I think the weirdest houseplant I've got is a Soleirolia soleirolli, which isn't even particularly weird. It's very quickly taken over a 10-or-so-inch dish and is now sprawling over the edges. Sorry,...

I wonder if mine are all males - the last really plump one passed a few months ago. Hiding does seem to be their nature - thanks for confirming yours do it, too.

That is pretty silly. It irritates me the most when the animal has been "cuted" half to death... you know, the Yorkie wearing the tiny cardigan, with a long-suffering look on its face, named...

I don't know if that's an aloe. It has backward-pointing thorns, and my A. vera at home barely has thorns at all - and it's much more blue in color than that one, and Aloe does grow in rosettes...

Yes, otos can and will starve with no algae in the tank. They do like zucchini, but it can take a few days for them to figure out it's food - mine took nearly a week! If you microwave or blanch the...

I wouldn't add more fish if you have measurable ammonia. They won't help matters at all.
The rotting plants aren't going to do anyone any good, either; healthy plants need plant food, but sick or...

I have a 10 that does the same thing. It was alarming at first, but the thing's been set up nearly a year now, and has had no problems. I wouldn't worry too much.

Neat!
How often are your otos out and about? Mine share a 10g with a single (mellow) betta, and hide all the time. I'd love it if they would breed.. maybe I should encourage them that direction. =D

I'd take the short green fuzzy algae, too. If nothing else, my otos love the stuff - I tried to culture it for them, but it didn't grow fast enough to keep them fed.

Ich is a parasite; it can't survive without a host indefinitely if it isn't in its cyst stage. Unfortunately, in its cyst stage, it can live an awfully long time, and that's why...
