Riccia carpets and floating riccia

This is something Amano doesn't put in his videos, but what a PITA riccia becomes after trimming it!!! I'll keep the carpet cause it looks really nice but how do you get all those floaty bits?

Try to keep it away from the front glass. Anywhere the wood touches the glass is going to be very difficult to keep clean.

Smaller diameter branches will waterlog faster than larger so it will depend on how thick the wood is. Boiling will also help speed up the process.

The last time I boiled wood it took a week...

I agree, I've got a 20 oz running on a 20 long with an aggressive bubble count and the tank has lasted way longer than I thought it would. Going on 3 months.

My Cerges makes noise too. I don't think there is anything I can do about it because I'm not going to reduce the flow into the tank. I think it's one of the drawbacks of the system :(

Haha, oh jeez. My biggest tank is 30 gallons, but a Rex Griggs style can be modified to any size.

I have a cerges and a rex grigg style going on different tanks. I prefer the rex grigg style, it's cheaper, quieter, and should have less of a flow reduction if you do it right.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I ended up picking up a few more things from the website so it made the shipping charges easier to justify lol. I'd hate to pay $30 shipping for a $5 part!!
