Hey all, looking at picking up a Fluval Spec 2 gallon tank on sale for $40 tomorrow, got a couple questions on stocking it. I'm seeing nothing but conflicting info on this, would I be able to put a...

I use a Fusion400 air pump, which powers one sponge filter and one corner filter in my 35g tank and I don't even have it turned up fully because it's more bubbles than I like. It was cheap, is fairly...

What the original poster is talking about would be the fish poop/uneaten food/etc that would normally build up in the filter, but is being caught by the prefilter instead.

Unfortunate with your fish, makes me not want to do anything during that time. With my glass tops I lose very little water, maybe half an inch over a week.

Even the smaller ones?

I have a...

Away from tanks for 2 weeks.

Hey, I'm going to be going on a vacation for 11-13 days near the end of august and want to get this figured out now so I'm not rushing at the last minute to get it figured out. I have a 10g tank...

I have the fusion 400, haven't had any issues with it and it's not overly loud. Seem to put out around the same amount of noise as my hagen elite 800 which is way smaller.

Try upping your water changes, taking out more water would take out some of the crud, try going to 10-15% twice a week or 25% once a week I'd say.

They'll be hunted even then, if they won't be eaten they'll be stressed which can allow things like ich to take hold, which can then transfer over to your leaf fish. If you're set on leaf fish, plan...

A cheap HOB filter with filter floss and some purigen would likely really help you clear your water up, and could be taken off when not needed or just used as a secondary water polishing filter in...

The eheim 2215 would be way overkill for your tank, and is made for a tank 4x your size. As mentioned an aquaclear 30 or 50 would be a nice filter while being quite a bit cheaper. I don't know what...

I don't think you'd be bad stocking wise, but the leaf fish likely won't be compatible with what else you want in there. They'll hunt smaller fish like the tetras and maybe the corys also. African...

That would help if the algae you had was free floating in the water, however the majority of the algae would grow on surfaces which I do not believe would be affected by a sterilizer.

Would definitely be nowhere near enough for a tank that size. Its gph before it's full of media and such is 79gph, so just barely a 2x water turnover rate. Once you account for filter media and any...

I don't think either of those would be enough. If you want to stick with the penguin line I would go 2x 200b, or 1x 200b and 1x 350.

OP already uses RO/DI. I would take a sample of your water to your LFS and have them check it to see if your nitrates are indeed 40ppm or if your test kit is old/inaccurate.
