With a shallow tank I would have some emergent growth coming up from the tank. Just a matter of personal taste, but I think it's a really nice look for a shallow tank.

There's really no need to keep surface agitation to a minimum. It's an easy way to increase O2 levels in your tank. All you need to do is increase your injection rate to compensate for any CO2 loss.
