I haven't seen my serpaes nip my black neons, so I'd think cardinals would probably be OK. I have seen serpaes nip each other AND a 3-spot gourami, though.

If you feed big hunks of fresh veggies, and they don't clean it all up within half a day, you can feed them once a week. Leaving vegetables in for longer than a few hours can cloud the water, but I...

Similar to what I did. I moved momma to the big tank with one of the female offspring, and pops lives alone. Neither seem to be particularly affected, and it's better than the new clutch of eggs I...

Have to say I'd agree. They're pretty devoid of anything by protein.

Great supplement, poor everyday diet.

I wouldn't use any cory cat with bettas, simply due to temperature requirements.

Corydoras are generally cold, moving water fish, but bettas are very warm water fish - 78-82 is the preferred range...

They'll eat anything. I can't get them to STOP laying eggs. They haven't had access to actual snails for food in the last 18 months or so.

They go nuts for catfish wafers or any other...

As long as you trim the ribs of the peppers and don't introduce any seeds, there's so little heat-producing material in the average bell pepper to cause your fish trouble. I fed green and red and...

It does look like tail-biting - a little rot can occur when they nip fins, but I don't think this looks like a water-quality issue, directly.

I'd say water changes every few days - but it's not...

Is it fluffy looking? Does it stick out from the surface of the eye?

I see it occasionally in my tanks, but these are old, established tanks with no stock turnover. I've treated it with maracyn...

Phil's link looks to be spot on what you're dealing with. Pull that fish out and drop him in a hospital tank. You'll need to do daily water changes and I'd likely dose both maracyn and maracyn 2...

Mine do like to sit on the leaves from time to time, which will bend them over and potentially break them - but swords grow quickly and I have to thin them out pretty frequently anyway.

Chances...

I've used Levamisole with great success. It's easy to dose, treats the entire tank, and is cheap.

Just remember that it's a paralytic, so you need to vacuum the substrate well to remove worms...

The tank water will eventually even out, after the heater has been in-place long enough. Thermal currents will help disperse the heat. That said, household conditions, cold air, drafts and such...

Feed them a lot of high-protein food (like bloodworms) and give them a *cold* water change and you can often encourage cories to spawn.

Of course, you have to worry about tankmates handling cold...

Very pretty fish, strikingly similar to the last betta I kept that passed recently.

It's very possibly Lymphocystis - there is no treatment. Heavily infected fish tend to die, but this is not a...

Here's one of mine.

They're sweet little fish, but often sick from the LFS. They also need a lot of tank space, as they move pretty quick.

I've had pearls and three-spots that just would not get along. That's the one thing about these semi-aggressive fish - they can each have a personality that might not be compatible with a group.
