But the EI does itself indicate ranges for each element, does it not? And if light and CO2 levels play into the viability of keeping very high macro levels... isn't that a balance of sorts? EI helped...

LEDs have a lifespan rating of several tens of thousands of hours... But will the phosphors that make them emit white light actually last...

Yeah... you can pick up a driver and a couple different CCF tubes in various colors. They are cheap so should be easy to test out various colors.

Generally speaking they tend to have a narrow beam like a spot light, they shimmer nicely like MH bulbs but you'd need perhaps 2-3 units to spread the light around enough... I don't feel they bother...

I currently have 6 adult SAE's in my 40g hex, they are about 7 years old and have been great algae eaters in several tanks I've setup, I move them around from new tank to new tank and then back home...

It's tough with shrimp... either works very well but I have not done any comparison between the two in regards to safety with shrimp. Probably best to just stick to what's known to be safe and dose...

In my experience it's the SAE. I add them to any new tank these days... Heard good things in the past about the FFF (Florida Flag Fish) but never tried it personally.

As for getting rid of them, clown loaches have always worked for me. My oldest clown loach is now 8 years old...
