As long as you aren't running any filters, the water should settle (but will remain tinted) in a day or so. As soon as you start moving the water around it will stir the dirt up all over again...

I think the 75g is pretty much the perfect tank for most people. The only thing I like better is the 4ft x 2ft 120g. The extra width makes such a huge difference.

Oh man, that pic is awesome! During the day no less... You could try adding a dwarf puffer if you can find them. They are pretty fun to watch hunt and it would keep it busy for a while.

I'd strongly recommend you consider doing a "dirted" tank and use sme kind of potting soil as a substrate. There is a lot of information about this online and in my opinion it is well worth it.

The plant looks like dwarf sag. I've seen that white fungus stuff before if you have a big piece of uneaten food left on the bottom of the tank for too long. But i've never seen it all over before

Yeah, it's amazing how much energy is used just to pump the water from the canister back into the tank. That's why those little HOB filters can go through so much water for their size.
