I had tiger barbs and giant danios in a 55 gallon. They got along fine, but I really wouldn't put danios in a tank smaller than 40 gal. they are waaay too active for a smaller tank.

Not true at all! I've had numerous bettas in planted tanks over the years, and none of them ever touched the plants. I don't know where they are getting their info from.

Maybe it's because I only have two amano shrimp, but they don't make any impact on the BBA at all. the only thing that could even make a dent in it was ramshorn and nerite snails.
Get some amanos...

Scuds are so cool, though. I had one once. It was so funny to watch, but then my betta ate it. I read that they only eat dead plant matter, so you shouldn't lose your plants to them.

And I always plant my anubias along the top of the gravel but with the roots covered. I don't like the way they look tied to a rock. The one in the picture I've had for about 3 years.
