It makes baby swords from that stem. The leaves will sprout from the nodes as will roots. Once it gets roots at least a couple of inches long you can cut it into pieces and plant each new plant.

I got one that was 22 inches sent to me. Was wrapped in wet newspapers, put into a trashbag, sealed it and put it into one of those round blueprint shippers. Made it here just fine.

It looks to me that the edges of the tanks aren't sitting on the metal rails and just sitting on the wood inserts. I would suggest bracing the wood better so that they don't warp the wood.
