If your room temperature is too cool, the yeast won't work, either. Some people put the bottle with the yeast mixture in a bucket and add a heater to the bucket to keep it warm.

My pfs aged to a more beige colour and not as bright white. I do use a narrow gravel vac and turn it over when I clean the tank, and it is still a more mellow colour now than when it was new.

I currently dose Excel with my shrimp and haven't had any problem.
