Me personally, I would epoxy a piece of plastic...

Me personally, I would epoxy a piece of plastic over the crack, make sure to ruff up the plastic some so it adheres better

Pea puffers and snails don't mix, It will hunt everyone down. How long have you had the fish? Once it gets established I'm sure your puffer will go after all your fish unless heavily planted

If you want too keep the plant whole you could just prune the roots you don't like. If you're trying to cut it into little plantlets i usually trim every 3 nodes, heck sometime I only have two nodes

If you're planning on putting shrimp you might have to put something over the filter inlet, Not sure how the biocube 29 is but i have a biocube 8 shrimp tank & I had to modify the inlets
