Healthy planted tank with clean, slightly acidic water is fine, and they don't mind extreme low ph with high TDS as long as water is clean.
In their natural habitat, water primeter change year round.

I like those lava rock, they remind me the river where I caught the butterfly loaches when I was a kid, the river is in the old volcano region, and houses, bridges, ... all made from lava rock.
