Same thing happens to me with regular Rotala, haven't been able to grow it for years. I got some months ago and finally have one stem growing normally but slowly.

You won't notice much diifferance when your T-5s...

I really like my Finnex fixtures, but I had to buy 2 Ray2's and a Monster Ray to get the effect I wanted. A little expensive.

Probably drying out from the light. A glass top will help if you want it to have floating leaves. If you already have glass top I really don't have a suggestion.

You would need CO2, I have never used Excel, but on a tank that size you would need a lot of it. Just use two bulbs, and put legs on the fixture to even out the light distribution.
