Doesn't necessarily mean that the assassin snails ate them. I've heard of accounts of this happening, but there is a possibility that 3 just ended up dying on their own:P

I wouldnt not believe it's only the new shrimp because the first dead shrimp i found was a juvie CRS from the first batch of babies I've had being eaten by a new CBS.

Like you said, it's only been one month. My thinking is that you're only losing shrimp because your tank is not established and your parameters may be shifting since you don't have everything settled...

Is this every single time you turn the lights off or only on some certain occasions when you do? If it's only sometimes, pretty sure it's jsut a female molting sending pheromones throughout the water.

I feel like this is a very subjective question. Some are able to keep hundreds of shrimp in like a 3G tank while others are only able to keep a few handfuls. I would say it's best to start with 5-10...
