+1 DO NOT USE TREATED WOOD INDOORS! I'm not sure if they still do but it used to be treated with asbestos as well as some other serious anti-fungal and anti-bug chemicals.

As an experiment you can try mounting a couple of lights to one side and see if the plants on that side get more color...

the BEST way IMHO is to use a hospital tank. There is no risk to the inverts and if the fish dies it doesn't pollute the display tank. Even a 5 gallon bucket can be a hospital tank if you clean it...
