True, it probably won't give you much useful info. But if there's high levels of copper, magnesium, cadmium, lead, etc. in the local tap, it might be handy to know.

As I understand it, the nitrifying bacteria are one of the decomposers. If you added something that had been composted underwater, surely they would have already taken care of the ammonia.
