Flourite for sure. The plants grow great in this stuff. Only downside to fourite is that it's so fine that new (unrooted) plants have trouble anchoring down. But after they root in this is the best...

Thanks for the reference. I actually looked up and found that article online, it was quite informative. I didn't realize this species was more comfortable in fast flowing/strong current type waters....

My point EXACTLY. The two problems (almost) never co-exist....snails consume algae. And as prolific as snails can be at least they're tangible and finite, not to mention you can ultimately clear them...

Ich can only lay "dormant" for about two weeks max without a host before it dies. If the water temp is cooler (< 80F) then perhaps one month max without a host but definitely not longer than that.
