Re: Baseline for Drop Checker

Yeah, there is no line, I gave up on this line a while ago.

Great. Where can I find (or how can I make) 4dkH water?

Baseline for Drop Checker

My eBay drop checker came with the instructions to add 5 drops of the indicator solution and then fill to a non-existant line with water.

1) How much water do I add to the indicator solution? I...

Diffuser under intake

My diffuser is located under the intake of my HOB filter - I thought the impeller would help break up bubbles and better distribute the CO2 to the whole tank. I have charcoal in my filter...that...

Re: Nutrient Deficiency or Co2 Deficiency

I've never seen my Amanos damage my plants but I could certainly imagine them eating the decaying leaf matter around the circumference of the hole.

Re: 10 Gallon

The nitrate test that came with my API master test kit is very hard to read. On the reference card the colors for 20, 30, and 40 ppm is practically the same.

1) Based off Google images, I would agree that this looks like Parva.
2) Sounds like everyone's in agreement that this is Wendtii green.

How big does Wendtii green get? Is it also a slow grower?

Please ID - assorted crypts

Saw these on sale for cheap at Petco. They were labelled as "assorted crypts" - they look good and fit the bill for what I was looking for.

I would be grateful for any help identifying them. Also,...

Re: danio erythromicron/margaritatus question

I don't know, but having observed my CPDs in action for quite a while, I find it hard to believe they would ever nip fins.

Re: danio erythromicron/margaritatus question

I keep 7 CPDs, I believe 4 male. The males will "spar" amongst themselves but it's really more of a dance, they swim in a circle nose to tail flashing their fins at each other. I've seen them do this...

Interesting. I've got a thread going looking for suggestions for fish to go in a community tank with my CPDs once my Cardinals get their own tank. One of my criteria was that I wanted fish that would...

Beautiful fish. Interesting behavior too, based on a few videos I checked out on YouTube. How big do you reckon they get? And would they be satisfied in a group of 6?

I hope it will eat some...

Are they small enough for a GBR to eat? Also, I'm afraid since they're smaller than the CPDs, they might be more shy and as a result, make the CPDs even shier.

Cory cats

I've seen some Corys that get pretty large...are there any Cory species that ARE NOT one of the dwarf species but still stay on the smaller side of the spectrum?

Re: CPD's and Neons?

+1. As someone mentioned above, the tetras are more aggressive eaters so you have to looks out for the CPDs but its not really an issue.

Re: Community options

Are there species of pencils that stay small? All the ones I've seen have the potential to grow larger than I'm interested in.

I do have a tendency to overstock but I also do frequent water changes. This proposed list is no more overstocked than any of the other tanks I keep/have kept and I've never had issues. WC, WC, WC...

Re: Okay to eat moss?

I would never give it to the dog but there's been a few times where I've forgotten to empty out the tub I drop my clippings into. I'd say he's eaten it at least 3 or 4 times and he's only interested...

Okay to eat moss?

My roommate's Scotty dog has grown fond of eating dried clumps of Java Moss that I pull out of my tank. He's just getting a little fiber right?

Both tanks are already planted. What I listed is what I want to put in each tank, I was looking for feedback on my proposed lists. Sorry if that was confusing!
