I run 12v PC fans on temperature controllers on my 2 10g shrimp tanks. Keeps the temps in check during heat waves, only comes on when needed.

I run 12v fans on a 12v temp controller. It only comes on when needed, so it minimizes noise and excessive evaporation.

I swear by it, it's cheap, looks nice and just the right amount of light.

I run 2 9watt CFL's in each of my 2 10 gallons. I find I need CO2 when I run the 13's. Also heat becomes an issue with the 13's. 9 watt is the sweet spot for my tanks with low-med light plants.

Just get a large sponge and cut it to fit in above the original sponge, or raise the stock sponge above the water line, or put an additional sponge under the the stock to raise the stock one higher...

I would look around for a used 10 gallon dual incandescent hood, slap some 13 watt CFL's in there. Cheap and bright.

LED's in one one of my specs are slowly burning out. It's the second replacement light from fluval. Any clip on suggestions for low light?

I have been running one on my 10g dirt tank with no real complaints other than the sponge over the drip tray gets clogged pretty quick. I would Definetly recommend it over the aqua clear.
