The finnex clip on would be perfect. And it would keep you in that low/med range. I have the 12" planted+ on my 12" cube tank is it is med/high light.

I'm not sure, kind of a follow of question....but wouldn't they survive on biofilm? I thought feeding was just a nutritional bonus.

You can do a nano shrimp only tank, I would think 5 gallons at least. I have a 7.5 gallon cube that is heavily planted shrimp only.
