Many aquarists use ro/di water and Seachem Equilibrium alone, with no ill effect. I believe Tom Barr also does this for one of his larger tanks. Let's not scare the OP.

I would recommend only using Seachem Equilibrium. Your PH is fine and I wouldn't worry about KH measuring 0. It is much easier to keep your water parameters stable this way.

It is algae. I get that in my tank as well. All you need to do is scrape the corners with an old credit card. Make sure you really get into those seams. A toothbrush works well too.

Most of the time I get my shipments later in the evening when lights are already off, so lights stay off till next day. For the times I get an early package, I usually do lights off for 30-60mins.
