Some people still use extra iron. I think most people don't. I have the dry iron from Rex in addition. I have lots of wisteria - a real iron drainer.

On a side note, my clown loaches love green water! They must feel relaxed b/c it's murky. They do a lot more lazy side sleeping in the foreground.

Me too - regular green sewing thread. I don't know yet if the anubias will attach fully b/f the thread rots. I'll have to wait and see. I think it will last long enough for the moss for sure.

Lots of people use sand, which is inert,so I don't think your substrate will be a problem. Also, keep in mind that even ecocomplete loses it's nutrients eventually. Lauraleellbp is right, though....
