I have an ac50 on my edge with a red eye puffer in it. I think bigger is always better. Puffers are messy little guys.

I don't know about the drowning frogs. But if you make a false bottom in the tank you can keep the water pretty shallow and still have pretty decent water volume and swimming space for the fish.

I kept 5 dp's with two ottos and an amano shrimp. They never bothered them. I think it just depends on the fish.

Have you considered making it into a terrarium instead? I have recently gotten into them. There are some very cool pictures of them online. And you can use moss collected in your backyard.

I dropped a pair of assassin snails in my tank and they have done a great job. My tank is only six gallons, so you would need more than two. But it's worth a shot.
