It would take far too many plants to have any effect on nitrates. I had a 90L stuffed & I mean stuffed with rigid hornwort & it did remove all NO3....

Over the last week, I've noticed in my 90L cold water tank that there is a really, really fine semi transparant green algae on the glass.

It is so fine & it catches the light so it looks pretty...
