Picked up a couple fish I thought were interesting, unfortunately it was labeled "live bearer"...

New light came in and it does not disappoint. Easily three times brighter then the stock unit, feels solidly made, fits on the rim of the tank like it was made for it.

Thanks! I would have loved to do the mods you did, but I needed this to be a budget build and I couldn't see ripping out a perfectly good filter/hidden heater compartment.

Going to order a new light in a day or so

Still undecided on method of CO2, Likely just liquid ferts for now.

How long can aquatic stem plants stay emersed safely?

New setup, about a week ago I started my tank just HC and buce at the time, wanted to give it time for the roots to dig into the rocks/substrate before I flooded.

Can you find Black Diamond Blasting Sand? Its marketed for Sand blasters but looks great in tanks and plants do just fine in it.
