API CO2 booster is similar to Flourish Excel. You can probably save money by purchasing glutaraldehyde as a substitute.

Java Fern, in my experience, is not affected by Excel. Rather than asking...

While classic EI requires 50% water changes every week, it can be modified such that you are only doing (say) 20% water changes.

There are several threads on how to adjust EI so that this can be...

Buying a normal regulator would be the easiest way to go.

The problem with proprietary hardware such as the one made by Fluval is that customizability is severely limited.

Yes, this is possible. It will depend what fertilization regimen you want to follow. Most people use EI (or modified EI) so that the amount of fertilizers in the water column is not limiting.

You are asking whether it is possible to put a standard manometer, likely with 1/8" NPT fittings, onto a Fluval 20 gram CO2 regulator, which is proprietary.

The short answer is no.

Excel is not really a fertilizer; it is more of a carbon supplement.

The effects of FlorinAxis that you describe sounds like normal healthy plant growth, i.e. if you were to dose Excel and...

If you are determined to get the NV-55, then I highly recommend you run it inline.

The fittings that charlie 1 linked to will work for inline use.

I would recommend that you get the NV-55-18 rather than the normal NV-55. This is because the latter uses #10/32 ports, which are quite fragile. As such, I normally do not recommend them to be...

CO2 is not required in a low light aquarium, though there is no harm in injecting it, as plants will only benefit from its injection.

It may be worth $40 to buy a new probe, since you have a free pH controller.

I don't think UG will root into the substrate; you might as well remove it. Most people treat it as a nuisance, since even the tiniest fragment left behind can grow into a tangled mess.

In general, no.

Most houseplant fertilizers contain urea as a source of nitrogen. Urea breaks down into ammonia, and we generally do not add ammonia into the aquarium as it is harmful to fish.

I would not count it towards your photoperiod.

You may notice that the side facing the window gets more algae than the side that does not, however.

On another note, a very nice aquarium stand.
