It's slightly finer than the aragonite that I use in my saltwater reef tanks. I usually go to about 3" in those tanks. So I'm thinking I'll stick with a 2" or maybe 2 1/2" sand bed in this tank.

I'd go with a 24" T4HO fixture with one or 2 bulbs depending on how much CO2 you're able to get out of your DIY CO2 setup.

It's more about what looks good to you. That one combined with a lower K rating (6500K or 10,000K) would be great IMO. But I don't like a yellow tank. I like a bit of blue.

24" T5 HO fixtures take a 24 watt bulb. So If it's a 24" fixture then just go get any T5 HO 24" bulb that you want.

And I'm not concerned with water issues. Lead doesn't dissolve in water. I was mostly concerned with plant health and growth.
