There was no discernible difference in my tank with 100 ramshorns and 0 ramshorns.

That being said, I liked them when they were present in smaller numbers. But too much is too much.

I had a ton of ramshorn snails in my 65-gallon. I didn't mind them so much at first, but they were just slowly getting out of control.

I asked the LFS guy about assassin snails, and he said they...

The way I think of it, Dutch-style tanks look like literal gardens. There are a variety of plants, with no effort made to seem "natural." There is also more of an emphasis on attaining a variety of...

It can be frustrating. I definitely know how you feel.

You just have to experiment with different angles of holding the plant in your tweezers, and dig 'em in deep. Then, once it's in, you can...

Best thread title EVER

I've been keeping fish for years, and the idea of making them chase lasers has never occurred to me. I have been a delinquent aquarist, and apparently all my years of effort thus far have been in...

Black emperor tetras multiplying out of control!

I have a heavily-planted 65 gallon.

I put 8 black emperor tetras in there, and now there are 20-30. I try to catch them and bring them to my LFS, but they're fast little buggers and I can only...

Give it more time. And trim.

Keep trimming also to keep it healthy, even after it fills in completely. I had a DBT carpet, and loved it. But I didn't trim it enough, and eventually the roots...

I don't know about that. Here's my tank, and I have to admit I have tested the water parameters exactly zero times in the 18 months so it's been up.

During set-up I just waited a sufficiently long...

I agree with you in principle, but limiting water changes is not the way to go about it. A little web surfing reveals that the average person uses 80-100 gallons PER DAY, so an extra 10-30 gallons...
