Anyone ever used Aquariumplants dot com substrate?

I just got a bucket of their "natural amazon" fractured clay substrate, and was wondering if anyone here has used it before. Any input is helpful!

I wouldn't worry about the film on the water. Its protein from the breakdown of organics in your tank. It should cycle out as things progress.
