That's what I was thinking the lava rock was as well but the LFS had it labeled like that. So I was just going with it, although it passed the vinegar test so it should be good for the aquarium.

Sounds perfect for Endlers. Small tank, small fish, highly colorful! And, IMO, do pretty well in lower temps as well.
