The Jake's are slowly getting bolder. Hopefully they'll be out and about more soon so can get some pics. So far they ignore the rainbows and cherry barbs.

Who told you they were? They get 3" long. Most fish will eat something if it fit in their mouth. Even nano fish like CPD's will eat baby shrimp.

Yes you can reuse the light. You'll probably have to dim it more than you would for the reef(especially if you're not using CO2).

RODI is fine for topoff. Depending on what's in your tap water...

Yeah sorry I wasn't clearer. Reefers found that biomedia(as reflected in your results) is a nitrate factory. Not such a big deal in FW where plants love it and fish are quite tolerant of it as well...

In theory yes. But with a 125 DT and a 40 gallon(probably 20-25 gallons actually in it) the amount of bioload a bunch of .75" fish would add is negligible

The clams might have been an incomplete...
