Agreed, I use Seachem Excel, my moss is taking over the tank. Seriously, it has no issue with that additive, or with anything I've found. Moss is an aquatic weed, good luck killing it.

I assume those ferns aren't buried? They do best tied (or super glued) to wood. Tied to a rock will work...

Lots, lots more plants. The DHG will do much better if broken up into little tiny tufts and planted that way, the big plugs like that will mostly die off with just a few little bits left anyway....

Not cycling a tank shouldn't keep plants from growing. I plant all my tanks long before I cycle.

What sort of substrate are you using? And what sort of water? If you're using plain old aquarium...

Yeah that's the clip on Finnex 80. I like it, seems to do OK with low light plants, but any bigger thank and it wouldn't work, very small light area.

I have an Aquaclear 20 on a 9G cube and it does a lovely job. Pretty strong current as well, the much bigger filters I'd worry would be too much current.

The shrimp will actually hang out in, and feed on algae on the roots of floaters, it is fun to watch.

My shrimp colony is a 9 gallon. Have a few in a 5 gallon as well.
